Working with proteins is already challenging. Why risk losing your precious, purified protein sample while attempting to concentrate it?
Introducing the X-Spinner Protein Concentrator. Built with a novel design that removes excess filtrate without the risk of precipitating your protein on a filtration membrane. The X-Spinner Protein Concentrator uses two tubes. Unconcentrated protein sample is placed into a larger tube. A second collection tube, containing the ultrafiltration membrane, is placed inside. Once placed in a centrifuge, centrifugal force pushes the collection tube onto the sample, forcing the filtrate to move through the ultrafiltration membrane located on the bottom of the tube. Once completed, the retentate left behind in the larger tube contains your concentrated sample. Since the ultrafiltration occurs in the opposite direction to the centrifugal force, there is no risk of the sample clogging and precipitating on the membrane.
The Proteus X-Spinner is ideal for the following samples:
· Membrane protein (Protein Detergent Complexes)
· Viscous samples: Proteins stored in 10-15% glycerol
· Dilute protein solutions: Why risk losing your protein?
· Sticky and hydrophobic proteins, such as fibronectin
· Protein fractions post Size Exclusion or IMAC
· De-proteinization of blood and serum samples
